As part of the upcoming CS WEEK 2007, the UP Linux Users’ Group will hold a demonstration of the Halalan Voting System. It will be held on February 19, 2007 (Monday) at the third floor lobby of the College of Engineering in UP Diliman starting at 9am.
Update:
Instead of a Burnfest, we will hold a demonstration on 3D Linux Desktops (xgl/compiz/beryl/aiglx) but we will still be giving away pre-burned Linux distributions. See you there!

For the first time ever, Halalan was officially used in an election. We are very thankful to the UP Department of Computer Science and UP CS ESC Representatives for approving the use of Halalan for the UP CS Batch Representative Election last September 6, 2006 in the UP Engineering Theater.

Halalan will be used on the UPCS Batch Representative Elections 2006 on September 6, 2006. The election will be held on the UP Engineering Theater and CS Department Lobby.
We are currently finalizing the election process and details for the election. Halalan will run on 4 laptop voting stations + 1 registration booth / server. We will be using cables instead of a wireless network for security.
There are modifications that have to be done for this election. For instance, we added the concept of a “pre-registration” booth which will function as the generator for the password and election pin. The current process for Halalan is to email the password and pin to the users’ email. The problem with this approach is that email is unsecure though it is pragmatic.
